"WHAT!?!?! I did not just hear that out of your mouth!"
This is how a conversation with the husband went Tuesday at our usual "Tuesday night spot", BWs. I don't even know how the conversation started, but I DO know that the husband uttered, "If it happens, it happens." This remark was in regards to a conversation about us having kids!! If you know me at all, you know that I have NEVER ever ever wanted kids! Sure when I was younger I thought it was fun to give my "future kids" names with my friends, but I have never wanted kids of my own.
Those of you who know me well, know that my husband is 21 years older than me. We both agreed from the start that we didn't want kids. He used to, years ago, but doesn't want them at this point in his life. So you can imagine my shock when I heard him make this comment to myself and our friends a few nights ago.
Rewind to Christmas Eve... B's niece has a 1 year old son. B held him off and on throughout the night. It seemed that every time he had the 1 year old in his hands, another one of his family members would say "Aww you guys need one of those!" B and I would respond, "NO!"
Now, a few days ago at BWs...the husband tells everyone about how his family members kept telling him that "we needed one of those" every time he held the baby.
The husband says he has not changed his mind, so let's cut out this statement from our future conversations..."If it happens, it happens!" We all know that I can't even stand it when little kids have snotty noses, spit up formula, cry in a restaurant, etc. I sure couldn't deal with one of my own!

The New Year
So, I had a blog years ago before blogs were "the thing" to have! But it was from my college years and since I didn't want to erase it, I started a new one. I enjoy reading blogs that my friends write, so I thought it was time to re-start my own. I'm sure that I won't be as loyal at updating or as creative as my fellow bloggers are, but I will try my best. Plus I will need to get used to this new way of writing where you just use people's first initials instead of their names, for safety reasons and all! It didn't used to be that way!
Last night the husband (B) and I (E) decided to stay in for New Year's Eve. It's not worth the risk of going out and trying to make it home safe and sound! Plus we thought it would be a lot cheaper to just stay home, fix crab legs, and have our own beverages. Let's just say that between naps we woke up in time to see the ball drop and head to bed! When did we get so old!?!?
The holidays are now over and it's almost time to go back to work. The spring semester always seems to take forever because #1- it IS longer and #2- there just aren't as many breaks throughout the semester as there are first semester. However, I can't believe I'm through 1/2 a school year already.
This Christmas break was not the best. I've been sick the entire break. I mean coughing until I thought I would die sick. And of course, since break is almost over, I'm almost over my cough as well. Christmas Eve was spent with the husband's family doing the usual gift exchange and Christmas caroling. Christmas day we woke up early (well I was up at 3 a.m. coughing and the husband got up at 5:30 a.m.) and opened gifts. We then went to see B's mother who is in a nursing home and gave her Christmas gifts to her. At noon we spent lunch and gift exchange time with my extended family. Then we headed to my parents' house to open gifts, drink wine, and snack on some more food. My mom, as usual, went overboard on Christmas gifts for us! (Not that I'm complaining!! As most of you know, I'm a tad spoiled!)
Well, I'll write more later about...whatever, but for now I'm going to have to end my first blog entry!
